UK Ministry of Defence : "Too Old To Keep Up With Hackers" http://www.suck-o.com/index.php/the-news/270-uk-ministry-of-defence-too-old-to-keep-up-with-hackers http://www.suck-o.com/index.php/the-news/270-uk-ministry-of-defence-too-old-to-keep-up-with-hackers According to an interview with The Guardian, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in the UK has admitted to being the target of multiple breaches of its systems thanks to unknown hackers.

While the number of attacks, or what systems were breached exactly, aren’t known, the MoD admits that it’s enough of a wakeup call to get smarter when it comes to defending itself from online attacks.

It’s quite shocking to see that what appears to be the US equivalent to the FBI or Secret Service, not having the know-how or staff to keep one step ahead of hackers in this digital age.

Here the announcement on the site:

Dear friends

How you can see, the VX Heavens server is unreachable since 23.03.2012. VX Heavens' administration sincerelly apologies for the inconvenience caused to You.

For many years we were tried hard to establish a reliable work of the site, which supplied you with a professional quality information on systems security and computer virology. We do always believed that a true research in any field (computer virology included) is only possible in the atmosphere of trust, openness and mutual assistance.

Anonymous shut down Internet for 7 minutes http://www.suck-o.com/index.php/the-news/268-anonymous-shut-down-internet-for-7-minutes http://www.suck-o.com/index.php/the-news/268-anonymous-shut-down-internet-for-7-minutes (This is my first exclusive news article, so don't mind the bad formatting :) )

The notorious hacker group Anonymous managed to take down the DNS servers for (roughly) seven minutes just a few moments ago. This time employing multiple botnets to compliment the usual LOIC volunteers.

I have been camping their IRC channels and I don't know if they took down Internet world-wide or just the Europe part but I certainly felt the attack.

Official prepared video statement from the Anonymous group can be found here. (it's a private video for the time being, will go live later today, enjoy the exclusive!)

In case they attack again and do more damage this time, Google IP is 173.194.35.178. Feel free to add more just as a precaution.

Stay tuned for more info and IRC logs!

The e-mails date between July 2004 and late December 2011. They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal's Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defence Intelligence Agency. The emails show Stratfor's web of informers, pay-off structure, payment laundering techniques and psychological methods.

Anonymous Claims to Have Taken Down the CIA’s Website http://www.suck-o.com/index.php/the-news/263-anonymous-claims-to-have-taken-down-the-cias-website http://www.suck-o.com/index.php/the-news/263-anonymous-claims-to-have-taken-down-the-cias-website Source: geekosystem.com

The CIA’s website is definitely down as of the writing of this post, and Anonymous is claiming responsibility. Given their previous track record, it’s pretty safe to assume that this is exactly what it looks like. During their last frenzy after the MegaUpload takedown, Anonymous claimed to have taken down a slew of other high profile targets, including the DOJ, MPAA, RIAA, and FBI websites, an attack on the CIA homepage would round out that list nicely. Granted, it’s just a DDoS attack, not a more serious breach of security like a leaked phone call or anything, but it’s still got to sting a bit if you’re the CIA.

'To take it down, you have to take down the internet': New file-sharing technology is IMMUNE to government attacks http://www.suck-o.com/index.php/the-news/262-to-take-it-down-you-have-to-take-down-the-internet-new-file-sharing-technology-is-immune-to-government-attacks http://www.suck-o.com/index.php/the-news/262-to-take-it-down-you-have-to-take-down-the-internet-new-file-sharing-technology-is-immune-to-government-attacks Source: dailymail.co.uk

Government attempts to knock out file-sharing sites in the battle against music and film piracy could be doomed.

A new file-sharing software called Tribler cannot be knocked out by governments or anti-piracy organisations, its creators claim.

'The only way to take it down is to take the internet down,' says Dr Pouwelse of Delft University of Technology.

Tribler is a variant on the popular BitTorrent file-sharing software, but is designed specifically to stay online under any circumstances - including attacks by governments and anti-piracy organisations.

'Tribler is designed to keep BitTorrent alive, even when all torrent search engines, indexes and trackers are pulled offline,' says file-sharing news site Torrentfreak.

Moves such as the seizure of the Megaupload domain by U.S. authorities would not work against Tribler.

Romanian police have arrested a man suspected of breaking into the websites of NASA and the Pentagon in a series of high-profile hack attacks.

Razvan Manole Cernaianu, 20, from Timisoara, is accused of publishing details of the SQL injection vulnerabilities discovered on the targeted websites under the hacker handle TinKode. The Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) further alleges that Cernaianu, an IT student, sold hacking tools from his personal site.
